Hudson Valley Psychological Association
Upcoming CE Presentation: Adult ADHD Assessment | Saturday, May 4, 2024 - Learn More >

February 18th, 2011

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

Last night was one of the most exciting Board meetings we've held all year. Let me share with you some of the highlights:

  • We met our membership goal! We are now 75 members strong. Please join me in extending a special welcome to our newest members: Mary Gallagher, Roxann Intriligator and Heather Gillman.

  • We have confirmed a date and place for our Psychologically Healthy Community Awards Event. We will be holding our gala affair (cocktail party and awards ceremony) at the elegant FDR Library on Saturday, May 21st, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Save the Date! You will not want to miss this event. It's going to be fantastic!

  • We have at least 12 nominees for the 2011 Psychologically Healthy Community Awards. One is better than the next - it will be near impossible to choose! At this point in time, we are putting together a top-notch Awards Selection Committee that we expect will ace this task.

  • We are improving our website each and every month. In this past month, we added a page to help consumers and mental health practitioners locate Group Therapy options. Check it out - it's very cool! We are also trying out various "search engine optimization" strategies. One thing you can do right now is add a link to www.hvpa.org onto your personal webpage. Another is to frequently log onto the website yourself. The more hits we get, the more likely our website will come up when people are searching for psychologists in the Hudson Valley.

  • We are in the process of electing our HVPA Council Rep to NYSPA. On Thursday, February 17th, those of you who are members of both HVPA and NYSPA were sent an electronic ballot from our Past-President Joy Dryer, Ph. D. Please be sure to mark your ballot and return it to Joy right away so that our newly-elected representative will be ready for the upcoming meeting.

That's all the news that's fit to print!

Cheers,
Lenore Strocchia-Rivera, Ph.D.
HVPA President
