Program Summary

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Tapping is an evidence based Energy Psychology technique rooted in the traditional Asian practice of Acupuncture and on the theory of Energy Meridians in the human body. EFT, a simple six step acupressure process, is used for a wide variety of clinical issues including anxiety, fear, trauma, pain, weight loss, identity issues, and stress. The presentation will include: 1) an overview of the research concerning the effectiveness of EFT; 2) EFT protocol and variations; 3) Clinical use of EFT for more serious clinical diagnoses, such as PTSD.

Presenter

Dr. Rebecca RooneyDr. Rebecca Rooney is a retired Army Lt. Colonel and NYS Licensed Psychologist. Dr. Rooney earned a Masters and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in Counseling Psychology. She is also trained in EMDR, AIT, and EFT. Dr. Rooney has served as a Psychologist in educational, military, supervisory, and drug and alcohol positions, and is in private practice in Middletown, N.Y. Dr. Rooney has successfully used EFT for 30 years with clients with a wide variety of emotional issues.

Target Audience: All mental health professionals. NOTE: Only Doctoral Level NY State licensed Psychologists can receive CE credits.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the origins and theoretical basis for EFT
  2. Know at least two research-based conclusions on the efficacy of EFT
  3. Learn and practice the basic EFT protocol
  4. Understand the depth and breadth of Clinical EFT

CE INFORMATION

Statement of Sponsorship: Hudson Valley Psychological Association (HVPA) is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Psychology as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed psychologists #PSY-0200.

CE Credits: 2 CE credits for NYS Psychologists (only) are provided upon course's completion. HVPA is authorized to provide CE credits ONLY to NYS Psychologists.

To receive continuing education (CE) credit, you need to attend the program in its entirety. CE certificates will be provided for all NYS psychologists who attend this program in full and who complete/return an online post-test and online program evaluation. Please indicate your license type and license number on your registration form.

FOR ONLINE COURSES: We verify your online attendance at the beginning & end of the program and by your completion of the evaluation form and post-test.

FOR IN PERSON COURSES: We verify your presence by a sign in/sign out sheet at the event. We will ask you to fill out, at the event, a program evaluation and post-test. Both these forms must be completed before we can issue your CE credits. We will email your CE Certificate within 14 days post event.
